Crabby Jacks

Crabby Jacks is the #1 reason to have a car when visiting New Orleans. This is (one of) the best po-boy shops in the city. They are also famous for their fried chicken which is fried to order. It comes back with a nice thick layer of crisp crunchy breading surrounding a molten layer of fat and nuclear hot tender meat. The texture and freshness was phenomenal however… the flavor was a little lacking.

This… THIS on the other hand was what Jessie got.

Fried Green Tomato and Shrimp Remoulade Po boy.

Usually the food envy goes the other way, but man was she right about this po-boy. You start with a nice thick slice of fried green tomato, meaty, robust and hot. Then there was a huge mass of small shrimp swimming in remoulade sauce, which is like a thin, Cajun barbecue sauce it's spicy with a deep flavor which lingers on the palette.

How do I sufficiently describe this incredible sandwich? I don’t think I can do it justice… it has to be eaten. Do it. Drive to Nola, or fly and rent a car. Do whatever you can to eat this sandwich.
