Madison Restaurant Review: Wendigo

The Wendigo is an Algonquian mythological beast. They believed that people who indulged in cannibalism were at particular risk of becoming a Wendigo. This is the new restaurant from the owner of Yeti's Pizza. Bigfoot Sandwiches can't be far in the future!

I was impressed by Stoughton's newest restaurant. This suburb is definitely taking some cues from Madison's foodie scene. Wendigo's menu features poutine (the best I've had in the US), house made sausage, pork jowls, SarVeccio and Sriracha. This is not your mama's bar food!

We shared a poutine with mushrooms which was so darn good it was all eaten before I could take a picture! The gravy was very flavorful and delicious; the cheese curds were fresh and well sized for a proper poutine. And the mushrooms added a nice salty-meaty kick. It was overall the best poutine I've had in the US.

We ordered the Cannibal Burger, which is an amazingly well designed burger. Pork and beef are ground and formed into a thin patty which is then layered with sliced tenderloin and crispy pork jowls giving the burger a unique and amazing texture. It's finished with a garlic aioli.

We also got a Phorench Dip. This is a combination of the flavor profile from the vietnamese Soup Pho and a classic French Dip sandwhich. This is truly the best of both worlds. The use ribeye for the sliced beef and add in the flavors of a traditional Pho broth, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seed and star anise. It's got a balanced amount of picked vegetables, Thai basil and Sriracha aioli. The Au Jus was amazingly flavorful and just tasted like Vietnam!

This was an incredible meal and an absolute must stop when you're in the Stoughton area! Keep it up!
